Eli Lev’s show at Pink Rock Culture Co-Op on October 22nd was nothing less than fun for everyone in attendance. His show was part of a series started by the owner, Amanda Rogers, called QuietLOUD, which features a touring/regional artist, Eli Lev, as well as a local artist, Jacob Fitzmaurice, and a youth artist, Logan Michaels.
Logan Michaels started off the night with his own originals that carried a wide variety of emotions throughout them.
Jacob Fitzmaurice was next, performing one of his originals, “Saturn,” and he told the audience how the song came to be.
“…a bunch of old guys who looked up at the stars, and they didn’t know the difference between science and faith, and they kind of merged them together. They saw what we would know is a planet, but they saw these little specks in the sky that moved in different directions than the rest of the specks, and they called them wandering stars looking for love. And I think we are a lot like that.”
His set’s message flowed perfectly into the main act, Eli Lev, who took the audience through his albums and EPs so they could feel the story he was portraying. His set included songs that allowed for audience participation with claps or snaps that helped lead the rhythm for Lev.
Audience member Kyle Hamberger commented, “I really enjoyed how much Eli engaged with the audience. I really like how he incorporated different instruments for his set as a solo artist.”
Lev showcased versatility, performing with instruments like an acoustic guitar and two different types of wooden flutes.
At the end of his set, he invited both openers, as well as the owner (who played the piano), to join him in a song to close out the night.
“This song is also about stars, called ‘To the Stars.’ It’s about following your dreams.” Lev quickly showed them the chords and said it was “time to bring it home.”
All four of them closed out the night performing a song about following their dreams, which directly connected to Rogers’ mission for QuietLOUD.
Their chemistry onstage and their love for music, regardless of where they are in their careers, created a truly unforgettable experience for the audience.
