Le Moyne College administrators, who say scheduling conflicts and other “unforeseen circumstances” forced them to cancel the well-loved Iggy Fest last fall, say it is impossible to predict if and when it will return.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a promise that it will be back because anything can happen, even though my team will work hard to try to provide this experience again,” Jeffry Mateo, assistant director for student engagement, told The Dolphin.
“There are many factors at play, and if any of them fall through, it could jeopardize the success of the event. In that case, everything has to be flawless with all of the vendors involved, not just the artist and their team.” Mateo said.
Iggy Fest, overseen by the Le Moyne Student Programming Board, in the past featured artists such as Waka Flocka Flame and Lil Mabu. Still, this past fall, students received an email on Sept 20 informing them that the event, originally scheduled for Sept 26, had been canceled for the academic year.
“Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts and other unforeseen circumstances, Iggy Fest has been cancelled this year. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. My team and I will work hard to prepare for next year’s performance. We appreciate your understanding,” Mateo wrote.
The event has always been highly anticipated by many students as colleges featuring artists have been popular for quite some time. The Le Moyne College website even has the event listed under ‘Campus Events You Don’t Want to Miss’, stating “…Iggy Fest is more than just a concert—it’s a celebration of the Le Moyne community.”
