The wait is over! The Le Moyne College Thrift Club officially opened its on-campus thrift store on October 6, 2025. The club was founded in April of 2024. The club’s e-board has been hard at work prepping for this moment, and the highly anticipated grand opening is finally here.
The new on-campus thrift store is located in the basement of the Wellness Center. The space has been transformed into a cozy and creative space, filled with donated items from students and faculty. These donated items vary from clothing to kitchen appliances, mirrors, and school supplies. They have everything!
Thrift Club is aiming to build a community on campus while also promoting sustainability in the process. Having an on-campus thrift store is the club’s attempt to encourage the Le Moyne population to shop secondhand while also giving new life to old, unused clothing.
“Le Moyne Thrift Store is a safe space for people to express creativity through clothing while keeping it on a budget, supporting the environment, and meeting new people!” said Ella Nixon, president and founder of Thrift Club. “It makes my heart so happy that one idea has expanded to this, and we get to support the community and students.”
Thrift club isn’t stopping with its grand opening; the e-board has plenty of creative plans ahead. With Halloween approaching, the club is encouraging students to make their own costumes through these secondhand finds. Along with this, the club is also planning to host upcycling events, along with repurposing workshops, in the near future at club meetings.
The thrift store will be open Monday through Saturday, with hours varying throughout the week. Students are encouraged to check the Thrift Club’s Instagram page, @lemoynethrift, for updated hours and special event announcements.
Speaking of special event announcements, the club is holding its first meeting of the semester this Thursday, October 9th, at 6:30 p.m. in Reilly Hall 244. Members will be repurposing thrifted items and sharing ideas on how to make old clothes feel brand new again.
So stop by, get creative, and see what Thrift Club is all about!
