Le Moyne Women’s Lacrosse extends win streak to 14

Syracuse, N.Y. — Undefeated and unfazed by their opposition, the Le Moyne women’s lacrosse team has had a historic season thus far. Their most impressive win this season came on Tuesday, April 18 on Ted Grant Field where they defeated Adelphi, the top team in the country.

With Le Moyne’s offensive attack and aggressive defense they overcame the impressive skillset of Adelphi. In the Dolphins’ 5-4 victory over the Panthers, they put the first two points on the board within 1:20 thanks to goals by Jacqueline Pardee and Vicki Graveline. A goal by Nicole Delany with 5:09 left in the half allowed Le Moyne to take a 3-2 lead into halftime. Despite the Panthers coming out hot in the second half, scoring two unanswered goals within a minute of each other, the Dolphins remained steadfast in their approach, bending, but not breaking from the opposing offense. Back-to-back goals by Monica Sanna and Sidney Hall put the game on ice for Le Moyne, who used their home field advantage to propel themselves to a 5-4 victory and the No. 1 spot in the NCAA Division II rankings.

While the Dolphins seemingly appeared to have their cleats floating on air after an upset win of high magnitude, the women returned to the field on Sat., April 22 to take care of business. Scoring the first eight goals of the game, the ‘Phins cruised to a 15-7 victory against Southern Connecticut State. The win over Southern Connecticut State proved to be the 14th win for the women’s team, tying a program record for the most consecutive wins.

The ‘Phins (14-0, 11-0 NE10) look to test fate on Wed., April 26 when they travel to Pleasantville, N.Y. to take on the Pace University Setters with game time scheduled for 7 p.m.
