The women’s volleyball team continued their winning ways with another victory over The College of Saint Rose last Tuesday.  Although the Dolphins dropped the first two sets, they stormed back to win the game in three consecutive sets. Add another point in Le Moyne’s favor for the Upstate Challenge.

Senior Maura Fay noted the composure of each player as they came back against St. Rose. “After losing the first two sets, it was really important for every single player to keep their head in the game even though we were down,” said Fay. “Coming into the third set we needed to keep our energy high and that is exactly what we did. Everyone believed that we were going to win.”

The Dolphins are on a bit of a winning streak, and Maura attributed that to staying in the now, focusing on the next game.

“To continue our winning streak it’s important to enjoy and celebrate our wins, but to stay even more focused on the next one,” she said. “Being on a streak is not what will win us our upcoming matches. We all work hard in practice to prepare one game at a time in order to continue to play well as a team.”

Sophomore Anna Hafoka, who had 13 kills, one ace and two blocks, said the team’s ability to work together and put their collective energy into being successful allowed her to be at the top of her game.

“My whole team helped me do my best. Our defense began to really pick it up and Kendall (our setter) executed a great offensive plan which allowed me to follow through with every opportunity,” she said. “Our entire team was loud and supportive which helped us to keep our energy levels up, even with a full crowd of St. Rose fans in the bleachers.”
