Women’s basketball extends win streak to three

The Le Moyne women’s basketball team picked up two more victories this week at home over Daemen and Mansfield to remain undefeated on the season.

Junior forward Emily Greer led the way for the Phins in the home opener against Daemen as she scored 16 points while adding seven rebounds.

Graduate student guard Kayla Stroman added 15 points with six rebounds, while senior guard Maddy McKnight also accrued double-digits as she scored 13 points. Sophomore forward Maggie Brown added a career-high 13 rebounds to the ‘Phins victory.

After starting the game by trading baskets, Le Moyne went on an 11-0 run as they took a 10-point lead into halftime.

Despite a Daemen run in the second half that cut the Le Moyne lead to seven, the Dolphins were able to pull away with a 14-4 run en route to a dominant 80-68 win.

Le Moyne followed up the victory with another superb effort last Saturday at home as they defeated Mansfield, 83-67.

Greer and McKnight put up 15 and 14 points, respectively, keeping their scoring pace from the previous game against Daemen.

Junior guard Alex Marple led all scorers with 21 points, 12 of which coming in the first half. Junior guard Maddie Hahesy also added 10 points off the bench on 4-6 shooting.

Brown was the fifth Dolphin to score double-digits as she added 12 points and six rebounds.

Mansfield started hot as they jumped out to a quick lead to open the game but Le Moyne responded with a 20-6 run as they took an 11-point lead into halftime.

The Dolphins continued to widen the lead as they remained comfortably ahead by double-digits throughout most of the contest in order to secure the 83-67 win.

The victories have Le Moyne out to a 3-0 start to the season as they are averaging an impressive 80 points per game.

The Dolphins begin conference play this week but won’t be back home until they take on Northeast-10 foe American International on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 5:00 p.m.
