Adele fans, the wait is over! Two weeks ago, Adele released her first single in three years. Accompanied with the music video, she did not disappoint us with her comeback song, “Hello.”
Over the past three years, Adele has kept her personal life private. But this hot, new single now has her telling her story. According to eonline.com, Adele makes it clear that the song is not an apology to any guys she used to date. She says it is not about anyone in particular, but rather many people that have influenced her.
“Hello” was inspired by her friends, family, ex-boyfriends, and herself, of course. She went on to talk about what the song truly means: “The song is about hurting someone’s feelings but it’s also about trying to stay in touch with myself, which sometimes can be a little bit hard to do. It’s about a yearning for the other side of me,” said Adele.
The 10-time Grammy winner has officially broken chart records in U.K. with her new hit “Hello.” The song has shot to the top of the charts in the singer’s home country, surpassing other same-day releases such as Justin Bieber’s new hot single “Sorry.” Adele made $333,000 her opening-week, according to forbes.com. This number is based on the calculation that includes the 259,000 downloads, plus a record-breaking 7.23 million streams.
Reviews for the new single have been extremely positive. The Guardian called it “striking, witty, and lovelorn,” while the Telegraph described it as “a beautiful song of loss and regret.”
When the song was released it topped the iTunes chart in 102 countries, and the album was first for the pre-order chart in 93 countries. Her last album, 21, sold 30 million copies worldwide, and the hope is that her album 25 will do the same. But Adele does not have high expectations for her new album. She believes that 21 was her best and no other album will surpass it.
“I feel like every album I’m ever going to write is always going to be following 21,” she said. “No matter what this album does, my next record’s going to be following 21.”
If you are in love with the new single “Hello,” mark your calendars for Nov. 20 when Adele releases her new album, 25. It will probably be one of your best investments.
