With October having two very important days for the LGBT community [Spirit Day and Coming Out Day] a thought occurred to me: What are some of the best inspirational songs for the LGBT community?  So, I did some research and found the top three best inspirational songs.

  1. Lady Gaga, “Born This Way.” This is the anthem for people to accept who they are. With lyrics like, “Don’t hide yourself in regret/Just love yourself and you’re set,” how can you not be motivated to love yourself for who you are?
  1. Mary Lambert, “She Keeps Me Warm.” This is my favorite song ever. This is a song about being okay with being in a same-sex relationship. The best line of the song is, “I can’t change/Even if I tried, even if I wanted to/ My love, my love, my  love/She keeps me warm.” This is a song that truly helps a person be okay with who they love.
  1.  Kesha, “Warrior.”  The obvious choice when considering potential gay anthem might be her 2010 number one, “We R Who We R”— but, “Warrior” is a lot stronger as a gay anthem. Lyrics like, “We were born to break the doors down/Fight until the end/It’s something that’s inside of us/It’s how we’ve always been,” encourage people to stand up for love, all love.
