Before we get into this week’s review, let us take a moment of silence for all those who will not be renewing their Netflix accounts after the announcement of an increase in monthly payment for the service. They also added the latest season to some of their own shows. With that being said, Netflix added several new shows at the beginning of this month. Season three of Arrow was added, so let us talk about some superheros!
The Green Arrow is one of the more underrated superheroes in the DC universe, so when I found out that the CW Network was making a show about Oliver Queen…I was pretty stoked, people. Stephen Amell suits up to play the Green Arrow and wow, can we just take a moment to appreciate that piece of man candy.
Amell has a great personality and is very down to earth. Also, did I mention he is a DILF? But as the Green Arrow he is able to play the perfect snobby, rich playboy who also has some very high moral standards as to who has and has not “failed this city.” Plus, it is a total bonus that you get to see him do a Salmon Ladder multiple times. Viewers get to see the journey that Oliver takes to become the Green Arrow, and to see the amount of talent Amell possesses in order to switch from Frat Boy Oliver to mature superhero Oliver in flashbacks is actually breathtaking.
Amell is not the only Arrow team member that will convince you to watch this show. Emily Bett Rickards will give you some serious life goals, as Felicity Smoak. She is a super smart, computer savvy sidekick, and this girl is a total smoke show. I want to be her.
Also worth mentioning, there are so many other beautiful people that grace this show with their presence like Colton Haynes as Roy Harper/Arsenal, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, and Grant Gustin as Barry Allen. The show is congested with amazing characters from the DC universe, such as Ra’s al Ghul, the Flash, and literally so many more that I cannot get too deep into.
Suicide Squad also gets an episode in the second season, and, man, the easter eggs will make you watch that ‘sode a couple two, three times.
If you’re a fan of the comics, you might be a little upset about the direction that they took. They added new characters such as Thea Queen, played by Willa Holland and John Diggle played by David Ramsey. Actually, Ramsey’s character had such a positive reaction from fans that they made him a character in the comics!
This show has three seasons of 23 episodes that run about 45 minutes each on Netflix. If you blow threw all that—which you will if you are hypnotized by the attractiveness and charisma of the cast—then season four has just started on the CW. I could have really put so much more into this because I am a huge fan of DC, but the Dolphin will physically not allow me to keep going. But seriously, check it out!
