It’s the show that always stirs the pot, whether it’s a coven, an insane asylum, a circus, or even just a haunted house. Creator Ryan Murphy is onto his fifth season of “American Horror Story” and this October the theme will be “Hotel”. I can only imagine the sick and twisted events that will occur this season.
It was recently announced that Lady Gaga will be a full-time cast member on the show. Gaga wrote on her Twitter page, “I am so excited to be a part of American Horror Story’s hardworking cast. A twisted fantasy. My favorite kind.”
As a fan of both the show and Lady Gaga as many other people are, this made me wonder WHY SHE HAS NEVER BEEN ON THIS SHOW BEFORE?! She is going to nail whatever part she gets, Gaga is a born actress.
Actor Matt Bomer and Wes Bentley are also joining the cast for Hotel. Bomer appeared on Murphy’s other TV show “Glee”. “I love collaborating with Ryan Murphy, It feels like this world where there are no bounds,” Bomer recently said at the Paleyfest panel.
Bentley is no stranger to the series, he played the ghostly character of Edward Mordrake last season on “Freak Show”. Actor Cheyenne Jackson is the newest member of the cast, which seems to prove that this season will be more male driven. Up to this point, “American Horror Story” has always had very strong female lead characters. But with the loss of Jessica Lange this season, maybe Murphy is turning over a new leaf.
Although Gaga seems to be the only female officially cast in “Hotel”, we may see more come forward soon. “Asylum” alum Chloe Sevigny recently announced that she will be back as a season regular on “Hotel”. Connie Britton from the first season of AHS (also “Nashville”) recently expressed that she would love to come back to the series at a special panel at the Television Academy , saying “If I worked at a haunted hotel, I think I’d like to be the lady in charge of the laundry. Because how horrifying does that sound?” As far as other female contenders? Most are already scooped up in other creative endeavors. Emma Roberts will appear in Murphy’s new show “Scream Queens” premiering later this year alongside “Glee” superstar Lea Michele, while Sarah Paulson can be seen in ABC’s “American Crime Story”.
“American Horror Story: Hotel” could be a historic moment for the series and I’m sure Murphy knows exactly that. I guarantee fans will enjoy every disturbing scary minute of it. So what’s going on here? An all male-housekeeping staff at a haunted hotel run by a mysterious and slightly psychotic Lady Gaga? I wonder if they’ll wear beige smocks and hold feather dusters?
