No matter what he’s doing, whether it be in the classroom and or on the field, Robert Brooks always seems to be keeping himself busy. That being said, he appears to be enjoying himself.
Brooks is a junior engineering and physics major. He seems fairly confident on the subject of his future in engineering, but he also takes plenty of time out for sports.
“I take part in intramural basketball, soccer and football,” Brooks said. “I played a lot in high school and intramurals give me time to play and focus on other things. It’s a good middle ground.”
In addition, Brooks participates in Liverpool YMCA activities and spends his summer refereeing soccer and basketball and working at an amusement park. Any downtime he has often results in playing video games and hanging out with his friends.
That being said, it seems Brooks has always been focused on a career in engineering.
“I really didn’t know what else to do,” Brooks said. “I have an interest in construction and building things and Le Moyne’s engineering program is really convenient.”
Upon graduating, Brooks hopes to attend Syracuse University and obtain his masters in civil engineering.
“If all goes well, I’d like to someday start or own an engineering company focusing on civil engineering with a structural focus,” said Brooks.
Not surprisingly, Brooks is part of the physics and engineering club, but he also takes time out for B.O.N.D. (Brothers of a New Direction) and work in the admissions office and the athletic center. This amount of activity may seem daunting, but Brooks has been more than happy with his time at Le Moyne.
“I like the atmosphere that Le Moyne brings,” Brooks said. “It’s small enough to have a personal relationship with each of the teachers in your classes, and it has a lot to offer in terms of entertainment and off-campus activities.”
