Former Oasis lead guitarist and vocalist Noel Gallagher has recently unveiled details surrounding his debut solo album “Noael Gallagher’s High Flying Birds,” which is set to drop on Oct. 17. This will mark the first official musical output of the British rocker in a post-Oasis musical landscape. This comes a full eight months after the debut album of Beady Eye, a group featuring his old bandmates, was released to a decent amount of fanfare.
The elder Gallagher brother, however, has taken his sweet time returning to the limelight, spending more time with his family while secretly plotting to take the music world by storm. This past July, he unveiled his plans in a 30-minute press conference.
The album will be released on Oct. 17 in three variations: a single CD, a CD/DVD combo and a vinyl record. It will feature 10 original songs, some of which date back to the Oasis sessions for their 2009 album “Dig Out Your Soul.” “Stop the Clocks” dates back almost a decade and was chosen as the title for their 2006 compilation album. The track list is as follows:
1. “Everybody’s on the Run”
2. “Dream On”
3. “If I Had a Gun…”
4. “The Death of You and Me”
5. “(I Wanna Live in a Dream in My) Record Machine”
6. “AKA… What a Life!”
7. “Soldier Boys and Jesus Freaks”
8. “AKA… Broken Arrow”
9. “(Stranded On) the Wrong Beach”
10. “Stop the Clocks”
Fans looking for an early taste of this album will be pleased to find that two singles have already been released. “The Death of You and Me” was released on Aug. 19 and is available for purchase on Noel’s website (noelgallagher.com) as a vinyl, CD, or digital single. The second single from the album is “AKA… What a Life!” which was released a few weeks ago on Sept. 9. However, during his press conference, Noel also mentioned a second album set for release next year.
Details are scarce, but Noel has teamed up with English electronic outfit The Future Sound of London. Noel has spent more time promoting his first album, but did say this about the second during his July press conference: “Some of it’s vaudeville, some of it’s proper space jazz, some of it’s krautrock, some of it’s soul, some of it’s funk, and that’s just the first track. It’s the furthest out I’ve ever been, but it’s all great.”
